PORSCHE NEWS - The Porsche news

THE NEW PORSCHE  911 IN 2011 DECEMBER

At 48, the new Porsche 911 Carrera is younger than ever: the latest generation of this legendary car unveiled in the spotlight and picked up a silhouette stretched, taut surfaces and details made with precision, while remaining recognizable look like a 911. True to the tradition of 911, the design language unique to Porsche, while muscles, gives an impression of strength and elegance.

The wheelbase of 100 mm and height reduced, coupled with the rims with a diameter up to 20 inches, are the basis of the athletic stance of the car. At the same time, the compact exterior dimensions typical of a sports were retained. Views from the front, flared wings 911 Series features eye-catching. They emphasize the wider front track, which gives the new 911 Carrera better directional stability in turns. The new exterior mirrors are fixed on the door sills, not on the anchoring triangles, as was the case until now. Not only does this solution is advantageous in terms of aerodynamics, but it showcases the new line of the car and enhances the visual impression of width.

The all-new body has an intelligent lightweight construction made of aluminum and steel. It contributes significantly to the reduction of weight to eliminate up to 45 kg. And, while offering a much higher stiffness. The aerodynamic optimization, due in particular to a rear spoiler extended to variable position, has reduced even the lift of the new 911 Carrera while maintaining a very good coefficient of air penetration.

In response to the modern exterior design, the designers at Porsche have created a cabin whose architecture is inspired by the Porsche Carrera GT. The driver is now more one with the cockpit through the adoption of a center console following an upward movement forward and which emerges in the high position of the selector lever or the gearshift. The latter is located close to the wheel, as in racing cars. Visible on the outside, the classic elements of the Porsche are also within: the instrument cluster of five round dials, including a high-resolution multifunction display, the central rev counter and steering lock to the left the steering wheel.

Posing as references in their class, as they have for generations, the new 911 Carrera and Carrera S are the bar even higher in terms of performance and energy efficiency. All versions use an average of well under 10 l/100 km. Compared with those of their predecessors, fuel consumption and CO2 emissions show a decrease of up to 16%. These results have been achieved thanks in particular to the system "stop-start" on thermal management system for energy recovery of the electricity network on board at the first speed manual 7-speed in the world and in combination with the automatic transmission with double clutch Porsche PDK (Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe), according to the freewheel. The new electromechanical power steering not only offers outstanding precision and feedback typical of Porsche, but also contributes to increased energy efficiency and lower consumption.

Thus, the 911 Carrera driven by the new 3.4-liter boxer engine that develops 350 hp, aided by the optional PDK box, only consumes an average of only 8.2 l/100 km according to the New European Driving Cycle (NCCE ), 1.6 l/100 km less than its predecessor. It is also, with average CO2 emissions of 194 g / km, the first sports car from Porsche to go below 200 g / km. The Carrera S, with the boxer engine of 3.8 L, which now boasts 400 hp, also displays a lower consumption in combination with the optional PDK box, and despite a power increase of 15 hp. The decrease obtained was 14% or 1.5 l/100 km for an average consumption of 8.7 l/100 km, which corresponds to CO2 emissions of 205 g / km.

Both models have the same time improved performance. The Carrera S with PDK accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 4.3 s. Press the "Sport Plus" package available with the optional "Sport Chrono," saves even two tenths of a second. La Carrera PDK needs only 4.6 s (4.4 s with the "Sport Plus") to reach 100 km / h from a standing start.

The new 911 not only offers better longitudinal dynamics, but also high performance of a new level in terms of lateral dynamics. In addition to the longer wheelbase, wider front track, the new rear suspension and electromechanical power steering the new, in particular, are the cause of handling, precision and directional stability even higher. Available as standard or optional depending on the model they are fitted, other control systems also allow to further increase the driving dynamics. This is especially true for the active compensation device roll "Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control" (PDCC) available for the first time on the 911 Carrera S. This system limits the tendency to tilt when cornering, the tires are always ideally positioned relative to the road and can transmit higher lateral forces. In the key, the cornering speeds up and laps even faster.

The new model makes it all the more remarkable combination of apparently contradictory concepts such as performance and energy efficiency, the sporty and compatibility with daily use that has always characterized the Porsche 911. The 911 Carrera is now more than ever a 911. The new Porsche 911 Carrera will have its world premiere at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2011.

The New Carerra 4 GTS - Maximum Pleasur

With its flat-six 3.8 air pushed to 408 hp (the power of the 993 Turbo and a mere 13 hp less than the 996 Turbo) and its chassis honed accordingly, the GTS was already a great banner for the 911 Carrera range . She is now joined by the Carrera 4 GTS, which benefits as its name suggests the same attributes with two extra wheels to become the 23 version of the legendary GT.
Expanding again to 408 hp 7,300 rpm and 420 Nm from 4200 rpm (320 from 1500 rpm), the six-cylinder flat door-to-rear overhang forward because its power Four-wheel drive system with the PTM, combined with a mechanical limited-slip differential at the rear. Equipped as standard with a six-speed manual box, the Carrera 4 GTS course optional seven-speed PDK double clutch.
The performance of the Carrera 4 GTS for 0 to 100 km / h is 4 "6 on the coupe and 4" 8 on the cabriolet manual transmission, and 0 "2 less with the PDK. ? ? Aesthetically, it takes the wide track and wheels 19 "two wheel drive version. However, it differs by its connecting band catadioptric taillights adorning all the 911 AWD. Among its other features are also aesthetic Sport Design front bumper with lip spoiler black, special rocker panels also black, as well as monograms Carrera GTS 4 "black or silver (depending on body color) on doors and rear spoiler. The area between the tailpipes also presents a black finish. The driver and front passenger take place in sport seats with the central band is, like certain elements of the cockpit series, coated with black Alcantara. Material quality, the interior sports a predominantly black, also covers "contact points" between the car and occupants, among whom the crown of the new sports steering wheel three-spoke design, the shift lever knob speed and parking brake handle.

The new sport car : The 911 GT3 RS 4.0

With the 911 GT3 RS 4.0 is one of Porsche racing series derived from the most popular and most successful who is entering the final straight. Limited to 600 copies, the 911 GT3 RS 4.0 is a car homologated for the road with all the features that enabled the 911 GT3 win on circuit in the series. Depths of himself, this new model uses a technology directly after the competition: for example, the crankshaft of the boxer engine is identical in all respects to that of 6-cylinder race car 911 GT3 RSR, liaison with forged pistons is ensured by titanium connecting rods. In addition to being the largest engine ever installed in sporty in a 911, 4 l behind the 911 GT3 RS is 4.0, with 125 hp / L, the engine air at the highest specific power: it reaches its maximum power of 368 kW (500 hp) at 8,250 rpm. The torque peaks at 5750 for his part rpm. with 460 Nm

The 911 GT3 RS 4.0 offers truly impressive performance. The most telling figure: it runs on the Nürburgring Nordschleife in 7 minutes and 27 seconds. Available with a manual 6-speed sport, the 911 GT3 RS 4.0 accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 3.9 s and reaches 200 km / h in under 12 seconds thanks to the gear ratios designed for use on the racetrack.

The exceptional dynamic driving the 911 GT3 RS 4.0 is the result of careful development and coordinated spared no detail. As the use of elements of competition chassis, weight reduction has featured prominently. Equipped as standard items such as lightweight bucket seats, the front hood and front fenders in carbon, the rear windows made of synthetic material and carpets optimized in terms of weight, the two spots that accuse 1,360 kg on the scales in running order with full.

It displays as a power to weight ratio of 2.72 kg / hp which passes under the heading of magic 3 kg / hp.

This 911 has at its factory in a white robe and stresses its proximity to the world of competition by adopting a dynamic look characterized by a wider track, ground clearance Limited, a large rear spoiler with suitable media, a double tip typical central exhaust and bodywork in aerodynamics. Used for the first time in a Porsche serial deflectors (called "cops") mounted laterally on the front skirt demonstrate the aerodynamic refinement. They are the cause of better downforce on the front and ensure, together with the rear wing, which generates a prop, the aerodynamic balance of the car. At maximum speed, the 911 GT3 RS 4.0 thus pressed to the ground by the aerodynamic forces with increased negative lift over 190 kg.

The Porsche 918 RSR: The new Porsche Dimension

Porsche expands further its expertise in performance and energy efficiency through a high intensive development work in the field of hybrid technology. With the Porsche 918 RSR, the sports car manufacturer presents a summary of emergency high-end hybrid concepts successfully completed during 2010. The two-seater mid-engined 918 RSR clearly shows what we obtain when applying the technology of the 911 GT3 R Hybrid and design of the 918 Spyder supercar a modern and innovative. Race car 911 GT3 R Hybrid, equipped with a means of energy storage flywheel very effective, caused a stir when he attended the 24 Hours of Nurburgring, the North Loop (Nordschleife) of the circuit, as well as 'the test of American Le Mans Series (ALMS) at Road Atlanta played (United States) and the Chinese round of the Intercontinental Cup in Le Mans (ILMC) in Zhuhai. She showed her huge potential performance in race conditions against realistic noted competition. The 911 GT3 R Hybrid, dubbed "Race Lab (laboratory car racing") internally, has even exceeded the high expectations of Porsche Motorsport. Its competitiveness, its proven reliability and energy efficiency issue, coupled with peak performance, have supported the initial idea of the engineers of Porsche, which was to increase the available power wisely.

The 911 GT3 R and Hybrid draws its power boost its own momentum at each brake application. Porsche now transfers this technology in the mid-engine coupe 918 RSR version "racing" of the conceptual study 918 Spyder. Reviving the tradition of Porsche cars endurance classics as the 908 coupe "long tail" (1969) and the 917 coupe "short tail" (1971), designers of the brand are clearly inspired by postmodern philosophy that "form follows function." The 918 RSR has elegant curves (dominated by massive wheel arches), air intakes and a dynamic cockpit that resembles an airplane cockpit. A turbine fan visible between the forced air intakes and a rear spoiler with dimensions identical to that of the RS Spyder still refer to the laboratory function racing car. The new body color "Liquid Metal Chrome Blue" showcases its sculptural curves, while the color orange - typical of hybrids Porsche - brake calipers and the longitudinal strips of the body give it the keys remarkable.

It is also a technology directly after the competition that dominates inside the reinforced plastic monocoque carbon fiber (CFRP), particularly light and having a high torsional rigidity. The V8 is a development of direct injection engine that has proven itself in the RS Spyder race car: it now develops 563 hp at exactly 10,300 rpm. The two electric motors of the train before each provide 75 kilowatts, or a combined mechanical power of 150 kW (204 hp ±), bringing to 767 hp peak power precisely installed. The extra power gained during phases of deceleration is stored in a device optimized energy storage flywheel. The two electric motors of the 918 RSR have the function of the torque vectoring Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV), which allows for targeted redistribution of torque between the front wheels. At stake, an even greater agility and improved directional behavior. Located in a central position to the rear, the engine is assisted by a gearbox competition also derived from that of the RS Spyder. This evolution of a six-speed gearbox with trees claw mounted longitudinally and spur gears spur is controlled by two paddles behind the steering wheel "racing." The functional equipment of the 918 RSR accentuates its "stupid race." With its traditional scissor doors, its air intake in the roof between said gates, quick releases front and back covers of CFRP, two roof antennas for communication with the pits and telemetry, small front side spoilers in the style of those of the RS Spyder, its air distributors located under the front lip spoiler and slick tires mounted on 19-inch wheels with central fixation, it can not hide his status as experimental laboratory car racing.

In contrast to the conceptual design 918 Spyder, the 918 RSR has a spartan cabin in which an atmosphere of racing. The soft brown leather bucket seat of anatomical tells the story of the gentleman driver. The lighting in the upper part of the steering wheel "racing" of lamp indicating the current gear and display on the steering column, front screen of the computer board, the amount of kinetic energy recovered assist the driver to manage his race. If a futuristic center console and advanced ergonomic keyboard with touchpad concept car sat in the 918 Spyder is a minimalist console equipped with toggle switches that divides the cockpit of the 918 RSR. To the right of the console, there is the flywheel instead of a second seat. This device for energy storage flywheel is an electric motor whose rotor turns at maximum speed of 36,000 rpm and stores energy mechanically as kinetic energy of rotation. The system is loaded whenever the driver is seeking brakes, two electric motors reverse their position and then acting as generators. The pilot may need to use this extra energy to accelerate out of corners or passing maneuvers. Indeed, in generator mode, the wheel provides both electromagnetic brake motors gear before to 2 x 75 kW (or a total capacity of 150 kW) from its kinetic energy. This extra power is available to the pilot for a period of about eight seconds while the system is fully charged. In the case of the 911 GT3 R Hybrid, it may also contribute to lowering consumption, depending on race conditions, which include limiting the number of pit stops and reduce the volume of fuel tank therefore also the weight of the vehicle.

With the new laboratory car racing 918 RSR, Porsche is now at an experimental stage concept used in hybrid sports car. The "Intelligent Porsche
Performance "in this case is to seek solutions that enhance a sustainable energy efficiency in demanding racing circuit, where the lap times and fast pit stops are as important as reliability. A job that Porsche practiced successfully for over sixty years. Finally, the number 22 worn by the 918 RSR is a tribute to the anniversary of another triumph. At the time win at Le Mans had not yet become routine for the racing department of Porsche drivers Helmut Marko and Gijs van Lennep in 1971 were the first to cross the finish line at the end of Clock Tower ... driving the car number 22. The distance record set by their Porsche 917 coupe "short tail" - 5335.313 km at an average speed of 222.304 km / h - is unsurpassed for an eternity, but for thirty-nine years exactly, until in 2010. In 1971, the 917 colors of Martini was also an experimental car, well ahead of its time: it had a tubular frame magnesium which has set new benchmarks for light construction.

La New Porsche 911 - 997 Speedster.

Very compact, very athletic and very rare: so that we could call the 911 Speedster in a limited edition sold by Porsche.
In tribute to the first model to carry the Porsche name "Speedster" (the 356 Speedster), the new model will be produced only 356 copies. This two-seater stands out from other family members 911. In the best tradition, the windshield lower than 60 mm and tilt more pronounced, the flat contour of the hood manually sporty appearance and the double hump characteristic of the lid of the hood up the pretty silhouette The new Porsche 911 Speedster. The body of this drive, 44 mm wider at the rear, is all the better development. The Porsche 911 Speedster will celebrate its world premiere in early October at the Paris Motor Show in Paris.

The latest 911 Speedster combines the usual characteristics of this type of Porsche sports with even more improved performance of the current generation 911: its six-cylinder boxer engine develops 408 hp 3.8 L (300 kW), 23 CV more than the 911 Carrera S. With an average consumption of 10.3 l/100 km (by NCCE), the new Speedster remains just as effective in terms of energy than the 911 Carrera S Cabriolet, power less - one effect of the "Intelligent Performance Porsche . The transmission of power to the rear, with a series of limited-slip differential, is entrusted to the automatic gearbox Porsche double-clutch 7-speed PDK. The damping system electronically controlled Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) and ceramic brakes Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB) are also standard. Added to this is the copy protection of the occupants of the 911 Speedster. Specifically for this model, the Porsche engineers have further improved the system roll bars now standard on all Porsche convertibles.

The 911 Speedster marks the beginning of the celebrations to mark the 25th anniversary of Porsche Exclusive, we will celebrate in 2011, and demonstrates once again the expertise of Porsche Exclusive on short runs after the great success by 911 Sport Classic. Following the requirements of Porsche Exclusive, the 911 Speedster is not only endowed with almost all available options for the family 911, but also fascinated by the craftsmanship of its interior, characterized by a matte black leather interior and many unique keys in the color of the body that are the exclusive speedster. Among these, toppings checkerboard pattern on the central band of adaptive sports seats and cheeks of seats executed in leather matching the body color. Note sport is underlined by the exterior color "Pure Blue, specially designed for the Speedster, which presents an attractive contrast with darkened headlights, headlight strapping black, the black frame of the windscreen and other fittings black. The Speedster is also available in "White Carrara" at no extra cost. It also has a special front apron, side skirts of specific and unique rear apron.

The Speedster series began in 1953 as a sports car purist, cousin of the Porsche 356, which had two bucket seats, doors, windows featuring removable synthetic material, and a windshield shorter and the elegant curve. In 1988, the derivative of the 911 Speedster has undergone a renaissance embellished with an additional feature: first, the lid of the cover has the famous double bubble. In 1993/1994, the next evolution of the 911 Carrera was also marked by the release of a speedster.

The 911 Carrera GTS : More sportcars

With its 408 hp, its superior driving dynamics and equipment for sporting purposes, the new 911 Carrera GTS stands at the top of the Carrera model series. 23 HP more powerful than the 911 Carrera S, the new GTS, powered by a 3.8-liter engine available in both coupe and convertible that bridges the gap left between said 911 Carrera S and 911 GT3 435 hp . Its sporty temperament is coupled with a pecuniary advantage: through the "Intelligent Performance Porsche," the new elite sport does not consume more than the Carrera S by NCCE (New European Driving Cycle) and is also displayed at an attractive price when taking into account its comprehensive standard equipment.

The 911 Carrera S combines the wider body of 44 mm Carrera 4 AWD with a more important and the classical mode of transmission propulsion. The GTS is different from other Carrera models by many other details about the aesthetic and technical. It is well equipped as standard 19-inch black rims RS Spyder with central mounting flange and polished pavement at the rear tires 305/30 R 19 format. Among its other aesthetic features include a front spoiler lip Sport Design features black spoiler, side skirts also special black and monograms Carrera GTS black or silver (depending on body color) on the doors and the back cover. The area between the tailpipes also presents a black finish. The driver and front passenger take place in sport seats with the central band is, like certain elements of the cockpit series, coated with black Alcantara. Material quality, the interior sports dominance
Black also covers "contact points" between the occupants and the car, among which the crown wheel of the new three-spoke sport design, the shift knob gear shift knob and hand brake.

The filling of the boxer engine of 3.8 liters, which now boasts 408 hp, has been the subject of special attention: the variable intake system now uses special six-part resonance vacuum-driven to ensure switching between a geometry optimized in terms of power and another optimized in terms of torque, while the engine of the Carrera S, a single pane fills that office. Maximum torque - unchanged - to 420 Nm is reached from 4200 rpm, 200 rpm earlier than the Carrera S. The sport exhaust system with two twin tailpipes whose exterior is painted black and the interior, polished and fitted with a nano coating. La Carrera GTS comes as standard with a manual transmission 6-speed and can also be ordered with an automatic gearbox Porsche double-clutch 7-speed PDK. The top speed achieved by a manual transmission version is 306 km / h or 4 km / h higher than that displayed by the Carrera S. In general, acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h was improved by a tenth of a second and takes 4.2 s for example by driving a GTS coupe with a PDK and Sport Package Sport Chrono Plus mode. The average consumption (as measured by the NCCE) amounts to 10.2 l/100 km for a GTS Carrera PDK, which correspond to CO2 emissions of 240 g / km.

Diesel Panamera
Powered by a 250 hp diesel engine, the latest version of the GT just an average of 6.3 liters per 100 km with a range of over 1200 km

You to browse over 1,200 km with one tank of 80 l, the Panamera diesel recommends as a great road exceptionally economical. With consumption of only 6.3 l/100 km of diesel (cycle NCCE), which correspond to CO2 emissions of 167 g / km, and shod with low rolling resistance optional, the first animated Porsche GT by a six cylinder diesel should theoretically be able to travel the distance Berlin - Bologna without refueling. With the standard tires, the average consumption of 6.5 l/100km (172 g / km CO2) is very advantageous.

The new Panamera diesel is played with the same ease of occasions and Alpine mountain passes. The 3 liter V6 in the silent march that shows a nominal power of 250 hp between 3,800 and 4,400 rpm. and with maximum torque of 550 Nm is available constantly between 1,750 and 2,750 rpm. is the guarantor. Backed by the Tiptronic S 8-speed super-efficient, this engine propels the turbo boost by GT from 0 to 100 km / h in 6.8 seconds Its top speed is 242 km / h.

The diesel engine for the Panamera is the most modern diesel technology that is: common rail direct injection with piezo injectors can generate a pressure of 2,000 bars, supercharging turbo with variable geometry (VTG) and electrically operated exhaust gas purification regulated by recycling them, oxidation catalyst and particulate filter. With the key to a higher power, torque curve quite full and low power consumption coupled with a nice smooth running of a reliability and low emissions. The Stop-Start series also contributes to this last advantage.

In terms of road dynamics and comfort, the Panamera is a diesel Porsche GT thoroughbred. Equipped standard with a steel spring suspension, it can also be controlled with an adaptive air suspension. This allows a very wide variation of characteristics of the chassis with one hand, comfort accentuated and, secondly, a dynamic rolling accents very athletic.

Designed as a full-fledged four-seater, the GT out of the box also in the field of interior design and comfort it offers tailor-made to each of its occupants. Despite its low silhouette and stretched unlike any other, the Panamera diesel, 4.97 m long but only 1.42 m tall is distinguished by a generous capacity for all spaces.

R
Record class: the new Panamera Hybrid S produces 380 hp and emitting only 159g/km of CO2.

With the Panamera Hybrid S, Porsche is beginning a new chapter on strategy Porsche Intelligent Performance "and continues to write the success story of its four-door GT. Without making any concessions in the areas of sportiness and elegance, the new GT reconciles total power of 380 hp (279 kW) and minimum consumption potential of 6.8 l/100 km (average according to NEDC), what corresponding CO2 emissions of just 159 g / km.

This applies to the newcomer not only to be the Porsche most sober of all time, but also to leave it all behind hybrid vehicles in its segment in terms of consumption and emissions. These values are obtained with optional all-season tires Michelin specially developed for this model, characterized by a reduced rolling resistance yet. However, even equipped with standard tires, the new Porsche Hybrid boasts a sobriety so far unmatched in this class of vehicle as evidenced by the value of 7.1 l/100 km (average according to NEDC), with which correspond CO2 emissions 167g/km.

Compared with vehicles both conventional hybrid, the Panamera Hybrid S displays performance that set the tone. It fulfills the sprint from 0 to 100 km / h in 6 seconds and keeps going up to 270 km / h. Electric mode only, the battery life is about 2 km. Under the terms of displacement, this method of propulsion allows a speed of 85 km / h. Moreover, the hybrid drive Porsche offers a direct reduction in consumption at high speed (up to 165 km / h in this case, up to 156 km / h for the Cayenne hybrid) through the principle of operation of momentum, the engine is disconnected from the drivetrain and cut as soon as you lift your foot off the accelerator. The Panamera Hybrid S is driven by the tandem comprised of a 3 liter V6 supercharged 333-hp (245 kW) assisted by an electric motor of 47 hp (34 kW) has already proven itself under the hood of the Cayenne S Hybrid. These motors can operate independently of one another or together. The electric motor also acts as a starter-alternator. With the clutch decoupling, it is the compact hybrid module located between the combustion engine and gearbox. The electric motor is powered by a rechargeable nickel-metal hydride (NiMH). The energy recovered phase restraint and braking, but also acceleration, is stored in the battery. Serial transmission is ensured by the 8-speed Tiptronic, characterized by a larger standard multiplier, which is found elsewhere on the Cayenne.

As for equipment, the Panamera Hybrid S outperforms even the Panamera S 8 cylinder engine, already richly endowed. Thus, it has serial adaptive air suspension including PASM adaptive damping system, the Servotronic and a rear wiper. In addition, the new GT has an innovative display system, inherited from the Cayenne Hybrid, which makes it possible to display all important information specific to the operating status of the hybrid system.

Panamera family currently has six models. This offer underlines the strategic importance of the principle of "Intelligent Porsche Performance" and installation of all new standards in the upper segment exclusive in terms of both sportsmanship and environmental preservation. This responds to customers' wishes as reflected in the beautiful commercial success of the series. Panamera nearly 30,000 have been delivered since its inception some fifteen months ago. The GT has gained a market share of 13% in the car segment of the upper class and prestige. The new variant will contribute to delude even the lure of the fourth round of Porsche.
