DIE-CAST CARS: IT DOESN’T MATTER IF IT’S 1:18 OR 1:46 – SIZE DOESN’T MATTER, IT’S THE LESSON THAT COUNTS

Miniature cars are a pleasure to collect. Cars represent many things in our society. Firstly, they represent our advancement through the ages, from the days of trekking through the dessert on foot and then riding wagons through stretches and stretches of prairie land, we have finally arrived at an age where many miles can be covered in a matter of mere hours, amount the four wheels of a motorcar. In that sense, cars give us perspective of just how far we have come.

Then, cars represent a part of us that revel in competition, in speed, in adventure. A part of us that revels in possessing remarkable machines, objects that could inspire envy in others.

Cars also give us a sense of ambition. Of something to aim for, something to own one day.

Collectors of miniature cars perhaps see these things in their collections, or maybe more. Die-cast cars, whether in a 1:46 scale or 1:18, as a body of collected models has that role to play in our lives. The size doesn’t matter. It’s the lesson that counts.
